Partners Capital opens in Hong Kong
Partners Capital, a private investment office with more than $7 billion of assets under management, has opened a branch in Hong Kong, its first in Asia Pacific.
The firm hopes its presence will boost access to Asian investment opportunities. The office will be headed up by Janie Chen, who relocates from Partners' London office to Hong Kong for the role, and Charlotte Plowman, who joins from SAIL Advisors. Plowman was a Goldman Sachs investor prior to joining SAIL.
According to Stan Miranda, founder and CEO of Partners Capital, the firm already has more than $1 billion invested in Asia, "but with the region playing an ever increasingly important role in defining the investment environment, we felt the need to expand our research capabilities on the ground in Asia."
Partners launched in 2001, and provides advice on asset allocation and "best-of-breed manager selection" across all asset classes and geographic markets for investment professionals, endowments, foundations and high net worth families. Some of its clients include Oxbridge Colleges, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Cancer Research Institute, The Nobel Foundation, the Victoria & Albert Museum, prominent family offices and successful entrepreneurs.
Partners is the latest private equity or legal player to open Hong Kong operations in the past year, joining TA Associates, CIC, Campbell Lutyens and First Reserve.
