
TA Associates opens Hong Kong office, led by Quadrangle’s Sippel
Two years after launching its first Asian office, in Mumbai, growth-focused private equity firm TA Associates a will open an Asian Pacific regional office in Hong Kong, led by newly appointed Managing Partner Edward Sippel.
Sippel joins from the media- and communications-focused Quadrangle Group. TA has also hired Jason Tan, a former China Director Summit Partners’ Asian Pacific Group, who will directly report to Sippel. The Hong Kong office will be TA’s second in Asia following the 2009 launch of its Mumbai bureau, out of which TA has invested in companies including Tega Industries, Dr. Lal Pathlabs and Micromax.
“Opening an office in Hong Kong is part of our long-established strategy of being a global growth investor, and we will follow the same investing strategy that has so successfully transferred to Europe and India,” C. Kevin Landry, Chairman of TA Associates, said in a release. The Boston-based TA Associates has invested more than $2.5 billion in 22 investments outside of North America since 2002.
