Insight leads $50m round for Australia's Roller

Insight Partners has led a USD 50m round for Australia’s Roller, a venue management software provider specializing in family fun parks.
It follows an AUD 28.2m (USD 18m) round in December last year featuring Partners For Growth and Acadian Software, a software-focused private equity investor in the US. That round included AUD 10m in debt from Partners For Growth. Acadian also invested AUD 7m in 2018.
Roller was founded by brother Mark and Luke Finn (pictured left to right) in 2011 as a ticketing and customer engagement platform for entertainment venues, with functions spanning gift cards and analytics on customer feedback. It claims to have grown more than 5x in the past three years in a capital-efficient manner.
The company is now present in 30 countries, where it serves more than 1,500 leisure venues and attractions. These primarily include the likes of children's play centres trampoline parks, water parks, amusement parks, zoos, rock climbing gyms, and museums. Individual end-customers using the platform are said to number in the hundreds of millions a year.
The latest round will be used to expand the company's footprint globally and enhance the platform. Recent activity on this front includes the rollout of a more user-friendly checkout page, a digital wallet service, and a "product spotlights" initiative that provides customers with information about new and upcoming features, offers guidance on applying those features in operations, and predicts the results.
"Roller has built an impressive business that is positioned to become a global category leader," Rachel Geller, a managing director at Insight, said in a statement. "The company's genuine obsession and dedication with delivering real value to its customers is a hallmark of all truly great businesses."
