Proskauer boosts China fund formation capabilities
Global law firm Proskauer has recruited Yong Ren to its private investment funds group as a partner. He previously worked at Mayer Brown and, before that, at Ropes & Gray and Simpson Thacher.
Based in Beijing, he represents GP and LP clients in areas ranging from fund formation to management and compliance. In addition to working with PE firms in the US, Europe and Asia, Ren has also advised China GPs on the establishment and day-to-day operation of US-dollar and RMB-denominated funds.
"Structuring funds and investments focused on Asia is an area poised for growth, and given Yong's deep knowledge and broad-based industry experience, he is a perfect complement to our global platform and dynamic team," David W. Tegeler, co-chair of Proskauer's global private investment funds group, said in a statement.
The law firm has 13 offices globally, with Asian operations run out of Beijing and Hong Kong. Areas of coverage include M&A, fund structuring and management, private equity and venture capital transactions, private equity real estate, capital markets, foreign direct investments and joint ventures.
