Dechert nabs PE lawyer David Cho from Orrick
A lawyer specializing in private equity and M&A has been poached from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe by rival law firm Dechert. Formerly a partner at Orrick, David K Cho will now be a partner in Dechert’s Corporate and Securities practice at its Hong Kong office.
Cho has advised major companies throughout Asia on a wide range of corporate transactions and financings, including cross-border M&A, US SEC-registered public offerings and Rule 144A/Regulation S and equity/debt and equity-linked offerings. He has particular experience representing clients in the energy, telecommunications, banking and life sciences sectors.
During his time at Orrick, Cho represented Asia-based private equity fund Orchid Asia Group on a number of its investments in Chinese companies, as well as working with MBK Partners on its leveraged buyout of Taiwanese TV network Gala Television Corporation and on its acquisition of China Network Systems, a major cable systems operator in Taiwan.
"We are very pleased that David is joining Dechert. He is a very talented lawyer who will contribute greatly to our global corporate and M&A practices and will strengthen the breadth and depth of our Asian practice," said Henry N. Nassau, head of Dechert's corporate and M&A practices.
Dechert also bulked up its mainland China corporate practice earlier this year, with the addition of Paul Weidong Wang as a partner in Beijing in May. Prior to the appointment, Wang was a partner at DeHeng Law Offices where he served as the head of venture capital and private equity.
