Ex CalPERS Buenrostro, Villalobos sued for fraud
Former California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) CEO Federico Buenrostro Jr. and former CalPERS board member Alfred Villalobos have been sued by California State Attorney General Edmund Brown on fraud charges, including alleged attempted bribery by Villalobos of Leon Shahinian, head of the fund's alternative investments program.
The charges relate to Villalobos' work with his placement agent ARVCO Capital, formed after his departure from CalPERS, and commissions paid to him in return for CalPERS commitments to funds he promoted....
