Northgate's Koh joins Singapore university endowment
Lye Thiam Koh has departed fund-of-funds Northgate Capital and taken up a new role as portfolio manager with the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) investment office.
Koh spent approximately four years with Northgate in Hong Kong where he focused on private equity and venture capital investments, primarily in Asia's emerging markets. Before that, he was responsible for Asia with AIG's private equity funds group - which was sold to Pinebridge Investments in 2010 - and head of private equity at NTUC Income, a Singapore-based insurer.
Koh has move back to Singapore to take up his position with NUS. He remains focused on PE and VC investments.
NUS had investments at fair value through income or expenditure of S$4.5 billion ($3.6 billion), up from S$3.8 billion the previous year, according to its 2013 annual report. Of this sum, S$2.9 billion was in unquoted equity securities. A further S$1.2 billion was held in quoted government bonds, with S$37.1 million in quoted debt securities and S$347.2 million was in quoted equity securities.
