Wellington Management hires Asia fundraiser
Wellington Management has recruited Xiaying Zhang, formerly head of Hamilton Lane’s Singapore office, to lead fundraising efforts for its private investment strategies in Asia Pacific.
Zhang, now a director for private investments, will continue to be based in Singapore, according to a statement.
Zhang joined Hamilton Lane in 2016 after eight years in investment banking and then institutional sales at BNP Paribas. She took on a variety of business development roles, latterly as a principal responsible for Southeast Asia. This coincided with the opening of the Singapore office in 2020.
Wellington has more than USD 1trn in assets under management across equities, fixed income, multi-asset strategies, and alternatives. The USD 32.1bn alternatives portfolio spans long-short equities, absolute returns, and private equity.
Private equity accounts for just USD 4.5bn, having been added to Wellington’s product offering as recently as 2014. The firm focuses on investments in consumer, technology, healthcare, financial services, and biotech.
In addition to Singapore, Wellington has Asia offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Sydney. It is headquartered in Boston.
