Portfolio Advisors promotes Asia fundraiser

Portfolio Advisors has promoted Chris Choi, who is responsible for business development and client services in Asia, from senior vice president to managing director.
Choi joined the fund-of-funds in 2015 as a member of the Asia Investment team. He was previously a manager in the alternatives investment division of Korea’s Hanwha Life Insurance, participating in direct and fund investments across private equity and private debt. Before that, Choi worked in investment banking for Daiwa Securities.
Portfolio Advisors also named Weibo Xiong, another Asia investment team member, as a senior vice president. Xiong has been with the firm for seven years, having previously worked for the alternative investment fund-of-funds advisory business of UOB in Singapore. In this capacity, he was involved in a joint venture with Portfolio Advisors.
The firm has $26.9 billion in assets under management across more than 250 GP relationships. It offers exposure to private equity, private credit, and real estate as well as customized mandates that cut across asset classes. The private equity offering comprises primary fund commitments, secondaries, and co-investment.
Portfolio Advisors launched its Asia private equity business in 2005. The Hong Kong-based team has deployed more than $1.5 billion in the region.
