Mekong invests in Vietnam pizza chain
Mekong Capital has invested an undisclosed amount in Pizza 4P’s, a Vietnamese farm-to-table pizza restaurant chain.
Pizza 4P’s claims to be Vietnam’s most popular restaurant chain in terms of customer satisfaction, with more than 4,700 customers served per day across 11 locations in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Danang. The company produces its own range of Italian-style cheeses and owns a farm where the vegetables for pizza toppings and other menu items are grown.
Mekong’s investment comprises an undisclosed amount of primary and secondary shares. The capital will be used to support Pizza 4P’s growth in the domestic market, as well as a planned international expansion.
“Mekong has a strong track record of investing in established companies by applying the value creation framework of vision driven investing,” said Yosuke Masuko, co-founder and CEO of Pizza 4P’s, in a statement. “The team will also support our company with strategic consultancy in areas such as human resources, restructuring, management practices and corporate finance.”
Pizza 4P’s represents the ninth investment from Mekong Enterprise Fund III, which closed in 2016 at $112 million. The vehicle focuses on businesses in consumer-related sectors such as retail, restaurants, and consumer products and services, with previous deals including mattress and bedding retailer Vua Nem and education services provider Yola.
