Lazard appoints head of Asia secondaries practice
Dominik Woessner, formerly head of Greenhill Cogent’s secondary advisory business in Asia, has joined Lazard to lead the origination and execution of secondaries transactions in the region.
Woessner spent 10 years with Greenhill Cogent, rising to head of the Asia business in 2013. He left the firm last year. Working as part of Lazard’s global secondary team under New York-based Holcombe Green, he will initially operate out of the London office before relocating to Singapore in the second half of 2018.
Lazard has eight professionals in its private capital advisory business in Asia, led by Nick Miles in Singapore. The firm also recently hired Brandon Suh to cover the North Asia LP markets. He was previously with State Street, focusing on Asian private equity fund investments and co-investments.
Lazard advised on around $2 billion worth of Asia secondary market transactions in 2017. These included a $1.2 billion transaction that saw Warburg Pincus sell a portion of every Asian investment in its 11th global fund; and Olympus Capital Asia’s issuance of a preferred equity security to Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), alongside a primary capital commitment.
