HAMILTON LANE James Martin, who previously spent five years at Partners Group focusing on institutional sales and deal origination, is hired to lead the newly-opened Sydney office
HARBOURVEST PARTNERS Kelvin Yap, who focuses on growth equity and buyout investments in Asia Pacific, is promoted to managing director. Philip Bilden, head of the firm’s Asian operations until 2012, is nominated for US navy secretary before withdrawing from consideration due to potential conflicts with his family’s business interests
IFM INVESTORS Kelly Ki Jeong Lee becomes a client relationship director based in the newly-opened Korea office
KOREA TEACHERS’ PENSION David Park, formerly CIO of Allianz Life Insurance Korea, is appointed CIO, replacing Min-Ho Park
NATIONAL PENSION SERVICE CIO Myun-Wook Kang submits his resignation seven months before the end of his tenure. It comes a fortnight after Jae-Sang Kim’s appointment as global head of alternatives is revoked due to a discrepancy on his resume

B CAPITAL Kabir Narang joins from Eight Roads Ventures as an investment partner based in Singapore
BAIRD CAPITAL Andy Tse, formerly a managing director of AIF Capital, is hired as a partner to lead investments in Asia
THE BLACKSTONE GROUP Katsuyuki Kuki, an investment banker with J.P. Morgan, become chairman and representative director for Japan. Matthew Cyriac, co-head of the India private equity team, leaves to acquire a majority stake in Florintree Advisors and launch an asset management business
THE CARLYLE GROUP Kewsong Lee and Glenn Youngkin become co-CEOs, replacing co-founders William Conway and David Rubenstein who transition to co-executive chairman of the board. Daniel D’Aniello, the third co-founder, gives up his chairmanship to become chairman emeritus, while Peter Clare assumes the role of co-CIO alongside Conway. The co-founders remain members of the firm’s executive group. Separately, Sunil Kaul, who leads buyout operations in Southeast Asia, is promoted from managing director to partner. Kazuhiro Yamada is named sold had of buyout coverage in Japan as Tamotsu Adachi, his co-head, steps back to a senior advisor role. Three new managing directors are appointed in the Asia buyout team, namely Nina Zhizhi Gong in Beijing, Alwin Poon in Hong Kong, and Ling Yang in Shanghai, while Le Guan and Ashish Karan, based in Beijing and Mumbai, respectively, are promoted to principal. Lorin Chen, part of the Asia growth team in Hong Kong, and Genta Saito, a member of the Japan buyout team, also become principals
C-BRIDGE CAPITAL Abbas Hussain, previously global president for pharmaceuticals and vaccines at GlaxoSmithKline, is hired as a senior partner. There are four managing director-level appointments involving Sean Cao in Boston, Jason Brown in San Diego, and Michael Keyoung and Tong Zhang in New York. Zhang also becomes head of North America
CDIB CAPITAL Hamilton Tang, formerly CEO and managing partner at Simon Murray & Company, is hired as a managing director. His is joined by colleagues Yinghai Xie and Sandy Ng, who are named managing director and senior vice president, respectively
CHINA RENAISSANCE Ke Wei becomes a partner in the Huaxing Growth Capital team, having joined from General Atlantic, where he was a managing director
CITIC PRIVATE EQUITY Réal Desrochers, formerly head of private equity at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), joins as a managing director
CRE ALLIANCE The firm, which operates as a private equity joint venture between China Resources Enterprise and Great Wall Asset Management, appoints former Headland Capital Partners Greater China head William Shen as CEO
CVC CAPITAL PARTNERS Singapore-based Sigit Prasetya takes over as Asia head as part of a broader restructuring that sees Roy Kuan, the managing partner for the region, transition towards retirement. Partner Brian Hong joins Prasetya as co-head of Southeast Asia, while Hans Wang, also a partner, becomes head of Greater China and of the regional team responsible for multi-jurisdictional deals. Yi Luo, a partner and head of China, leaves the firm. Separately, Nobuaki Kurumatani, previously an executive with Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, is named president of Japan operations. This follows the appointment of Yoshiaki Fujimori as senior executive advisor for Japan

GENERAL ATLANTIC Southeast Asia head Wai Hoong Fock is promoted to managing director, while Pamela Fung is hired from Actis to lead capital partnering efforts in Asia. This follows two special advisor appointments: John A. Prasetio, president commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, comes in to help develop the business in Southeast Asia; while Yong Hak Huh, founder and CEO of First Bridge Strategies and before that CIO of private markets and direct investment at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, will work with the capital partnering team
GGV CAPITAL Eric Xu, formerly a managing director with SIG Investment Asia, joins as a managing partner in the firm’s Shanghai office. He focuses on investments in consumer internet and technologies that have yet to achieve widespread commercial adoption
IL&FS INVESTMENT MANAGERS Krishna Kumar, one of the founding members of the firm’s private equity practice is promoted to CEO. He replaces Archana Hingorani, who resigned for personal reasons
INNOVEN CAPITAL Ashish Sharma, former CEO and president of GE Capital India, is named India CEO. He replaces Chin Chao, CEO for Singapore and Southeast Asia, who served in an interim capacity. This follows the departure of co-founders Ajay Hattangdi and Vinod Murali, who launch their own firm, Alteria Capital
JENERATION CAPITAL MANAGEMENT Tony Zhang joins as a partner, following three years spent making technology investments as head of Asia at Coatue Management
JUNGLE VENTURES Grace Xia, previously senior director of corporate strategy and development at Tencent Holdings, joins as a principal

MBK PARTNERS Stephen Le joins to co-head a newly-launched fund that will make credit and special situations investments. He was previously responsible for credit, distressed products, structured financing and real estate for Deutsche Bank in Asia Pacific
MEITUAN-DIANPING Shaohui Chen, who is responsible for the company’s fundraising and corporate strategic investments, and Yonghua Zhu, a partner at Tiantu Capital, are named founding partners of a fund that will make early-stage consumer sector investments
NEWQUEST CAPITAL PARTNERS Sachin Khandewal joins from Bain & Company as director and head of portfolio management, based in the firm’s newly-opened Mumbai office
NEXUS POINT The firm is launched by Kuo-Chan Kung, formerly a partner at MBK Partners. Ex-Morgan Stanley banker Richard Wong and Min Li, Bain Capital Private Equity’s China healthcare head, join as partners, with Raman Yiu – another ex-Bain Capital executive – becoming a managing director and CFO
