India PE lawyer joins Dacheng Wong Alliance
India-qualified corporate lawyer Yang Yen Thaw has joined Dacheng Wong Alliance, the Singapore joint venture between China’s Dacheng and Singapore’s Wong Alliance.
He was previously resident partner at Indian boutique private equity and venture capital law firm Lexygen, in Singapore
Yang will co-head Dacheng Wong's India practice, utilizing his 19 years of experience in international transactions and investments, joint ventures, M&A and intellectual property. He also boasts experience in advising blue chip companies and private equity and venture capital firms in the jurisdictions of India, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
"We are committed to bridging the India-China-ASEAN space, and with Yen Thaw on board, we will be better placed to do this," commented Aloysius Wee, India practice managing principal at Dacheng Wong.
Yang's appointment brings the number of lawyers at the firm's India practice to four. In addition to Wee, they are senior associates Rahul Singh Talwar and Richa Chaturvedi.
Legal issues that stand to impact private equity investors in India at present include the nation's proposed anti-avoidance legislation. The Indian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association expressed concern last week that the draft guidelines on the regulations are too vague.
