Evercore adds to Asia private funds group
Boutique investment bank Evercore has hired Ian Bell from Credit Suisse to head up distribution and origination for its private funds group in Asia Pacific.
Bell, who was previously responsible for Credit Suisse's institutional investor coverage in the region, is based in Hong Kong. He spent eight years at Credit Suisse in the Hong Kong and Sydney offices in client coverage roles that involved working with pension funds, insurers and sovereign wealth funds.
Bell will be supported by Manda Chan, who joins from placement agent MVision where she was an associate. She worked on project management for various fundraises in Asia as well as taking responsibility for coverage of some LPs in China.
"As fundraising for and from the region continues to strengthen, we believe our presence in the Asia Pacific region is key in offering both our GP and LP clients a comprehensive and truly global advisory service," Richard Anthony, CEO of Evercore's private funds group, said in a statement.
Evercore's business is divided into investment banking advisory services and investment management services. The private funds group, which raises capital for private fund sponsors, is part of the investment banking operation. Evercore has 21 offices in North America, Europe, South America and Asia. Its Asia presence comprises offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.
