Squadron’s Prasanna joins Morgan Creek in Shanghai
Anand Prasanna, known to many in the industry as Anand RP, will join Morgan Creek Capital Management as a director in their Shanghai office. He left his previous position as an investment director at Squadron Capital, an Asia-focused fund-of-funds, two weeks ago.
Prasanna will take up his new role next month. As part of Morgan Creek's Asia team he will cover investments across the region, with a particular focus on India. The addition of Prasanna takes Morgan Creek's Shanghai team to eight investment professionals.
"We look forward to continuing to build out our local and regional presence and think Anand will be a great addition and expect him to enhance our investment capabilities in the region," Jason Zhang, a partner with Morgan Creek who leads its Shanghai private assets operation, said in a statement.
Morgan Creek, founded in 2004 and led by Mark Yusko, established a regional presence in 2007 with a focus of investing in private equity funds in developing Asia.
Prasanna grew up in southern India and worked as an energy consultant at McKinsey & Company before moving to Sequoia Capital's India operation. Four years on, he joined Squadron but continued his involvement in angel investing, relying on networks cultivated at Sequoia. Earlier this year he injected INR2.5 million ($45,000) in Indian car rental booking portal Taxiguide.in.
