
MD of Macquarie SBI departs fund
Managing Director of Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Management Ambalika Banerji has reportedly resigned her Mumbai-based post after eight years with the company.
News of her next move has not been disclosed. The Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Fund, backed by Macquarie Capital Funds with the International Finance Corporation, as well as the State Bank of India, has invested in targets including Viom Networks, a cellular telecoms tower company formerly known as Quippo-WTTIL, injecting INR1400 crore ($304 million) into the group for 11% stake in August. In December of last year, Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Fund and 3i Group jointly took a minority stake in infrastructure major GMR Group's GMR Airport Holdings subsidiary for $450 million.
Banerji, who had been with Macquarie since 2002, oversaw these transactions. She has additionally worked at institutions including Macquarie Bank, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Barclays Bank and State Bank of India, according to local reports.
