BootstrapLabs, MAD incubator launch SE Asia start-up accelerator
Malaysia-based MAD incubator has partnered with Silicon Valley-based BootstrapLabs to create a Southeast Asia-focused start-up accelerator.
The new fund, known as BootstrapAccelerator Asia, will invest in capital efficient software companies that leverage the speed of internet distribution and the scalability of cloud infrastructure, regardless of their segment.
According to a release, the start-ups will have the opportunity to receive investment plus substantial grants in cash valued up to $35,000. At the same time, they will enter a 12 month program divided into three phases: validation of business models and team building; incubation and customer development; and finally an acceleration period, with a focus on product, market fit, growth, monetization and partnerships.
The most promising startups will have an opportunity to take part in BootstrapLabs' Silicon Valley Fast Track program to go global.
BootstrapLabs is not the first VC firm with Silicon Valley links to tap into the Southeast Asian tech opportunity and set up an accelerator. Last December, Golden Gate Ventures, which has operations in Singapore and Silicon Valley, formed a strategic alliance with JFDI.Asia to support early-stage digital start-ups in Asia as they move from concept to pre-Series A funding by setting up a bootcamp program.
