AVCJ journalists win awards
Asian Venture Capital Journal was honored at the 2015 State Street Institutional Press Awards, Asia Pacific, winning three categories outright and receiving highly commended citations in three more.
Winnie Liu, associate editor at the publication, won the Journalist of the Year - Financial Literacy award for submissions that included a piece on the female presence in China's venture capital industry. Staff Writer Holden Mann won the Award for Best Newcomer for his work on emerging players in Asian e-commerce and India's payments industry, and was highly commended in the alternatives category.
Managing Editor Tim Burroughs was highly commended in both the financial literacy and alternatives categories and won the Journalist of the Year - Regulation award. His submissions included an analysis of the fundraising challenges presented by the EU's Alternative Investment Fund Managers' Directive.
The awards, now in their fourth year in Asia, are intended to recognize outstanding performance in institutional financial services reporting. There were nearly 150 entries from titles across the region, including those from Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Entries were judged by an independent panel of industry professionals led by Tom Leander, Asia editor-in-chief at Lloyd's List.
