
Ascalon's Chuak Chan promoted from Asia head to CEO
Ascalon Capital Managers has appointed Chuak Chan as CEO. He joined the Australia-headquartered firm last year as head of Asia, having previously worked at Hong Kong hedge fund Segantii Capital Management, ING Investment Management and Bankers Trust in Singapore.
Chan will continue to be based in Hong Kong, while Jason Collins has been appointed chief operating officer in which capacity he will retain responsibility for Ascalon's Australian business. The company is wholly-owned by Westpac and its wealth management division, BT Financial Group.
"Chuak has 25 years' experience in the asset management industry, including 13 years in Asia," said David Lees, a director at Ascalon. "He has successfully established several businesses in multiple countries and has operated at a senior management level at a major institution and a boutique firm."
Ascalon manages specialized investment strategies on behalf of institutional and high net worth clients. It backs alternative and high conviction fund managers across the Asia Pacific region.
