Brookfield hires Niel Thassim as Head of Asia
Brookfield Asset Management has hired Niel Thassim as head of Asia with its Hong Kong-based private funds group.
Thassim was previously managing director and head of RREEF's Asia-Pacific real estate business in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he worked in various roles within RREEF and Deutsche Bank in Australia, London and Singapore.
Thassim's role at Brookfield will be to drive fundraising for private fund offerings and develop relationships with leading investors in the region.
"Brookfield has strong historic ties to Asian investors and we are delighted that Niel has joined the firm to build on our franchise in this dynamic region," Leo van den Thillart, managing partner in Brookfield's private funds group, said in a statement. "Niel has proven experience in alternative asset management and his solid institutional and consultant relationships will be integral to establishing lasting partnerships between Brookfield and our clients."
