
Kirkland & Ellis added new lawyers to strengthen Asia operation
Kirkland & Ellis has added several new senior lawyers to its Hong Kong office, including Nicholas Norris, John Otoshi, Benjamin Su, Dominic Tsun, Li-Chien Wong, Ashley Young and David Zhang.
The firm said in a statement that it plans to have lawyers nearly 50 lawyers in Asia, most of whom speak fluent Mandarin.
“This group of top lawyers will enable us to offer in Asia a leading full-service Hong Kong and US mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and debt finance practice,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, chairman of Kirkland’s global management executive committee.
Among new hires, Norris who was co-head of Skadden’s corporate practice in Asia (ex-Japan) is a member of the Hong Kong Panel on takeovers and mergers and has advised on more than 20 public takeovers and take-private transactions in the territory in the past five years.
Kirkland has advised more than 40 private equity funds, including Bain Capital and Silver Lake Partners, and strategic acquisitions in and involving Asia, including inbound and outbound M&A, LBOs, joint ventures, growth equity investments including PIPEs, and offshore and renminbi fund formations.
