Jones Lang LaSalle announces new Japan head
Jones Lang LaSalle has announced that Yoichiro Hamaoka will be stepping down from his role looking after Japanese business at the firm, while ex-Goldman Sachs exec Toshinobu Kasai will succeed him.
Hamaoka, who has worked for Jones Lang LaSalle for 12 years, will be taking on the role of chairman. Kasai is to succeed him as managing director in Japan.
Kasai joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 and was promoted to partner in 2004. He also launched Goldman Sachs' realty operations in Asia. As a former head of real estate private equity investment in Japan, Kasai has years of experience in the local real estate business. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he worked with Daiwa Securities.
Commenting on the reappointment, Alastair Hughes, CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle Asia Pacific, said in a statement that Kasai's extensive experience in both financial services and real estate will enable him to drive the company's business forward.
"Kasai is well known and respected in the Japanese banking and real estate markets and he is the ideal candidate to build on the legacy that Hamaoka leaves us with," he added.
Kasai will start his work in Jones Lang LaSalle at the beginning of April and will work closely with Hamaoka during a transition period.
