Mercer restructures Asia investments team
Mercer has shuffled its Asia investments team following the creation of a new growth markets region, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Tim Jenkins has been appointed regional business leader for investments and retirement and Gary Hawker has been named director of consulting, both covering the growth markets region. For Greater China specifically, Deborah Bannon is the new investments market business leader and Michelle Ng has been promoted to head of advisory.
Jenkins is a senior partner who first joined Mercer in 1985 and has worked for the company in Asia, the UK, New Zealand and Australia, serving on global Investment and retirement leadership teams. Hawker has been with the company since 1992, looking after Asian clients including national social security funds, central banks and national reserve investment agencies.
Bannon and Ng both see their existing roles expand to include new responsibilities. Bannon now looks after all investment services, including research and tools, advice and solutions, while Ng is adding mainland China, Taiwan and Macau to her existing Hong Kong remit.
"We believe economic activity in the growth markets of Asia will continue to outpace mature markets, and the strengthening of our Asia investments team is tangible evidence of Mercer's commitment to this region," said Gaurav D. Garg, regional president of growth markets.
