Temasek appoints two presidents, including former BoA exec Gregory Curl
Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings has appointed two new presidents to strengthen its cache of top management, hiring Bank of America’s Chief Risk Officer Gregory Curl to one of the roles and promoting Executive Director Simon Israel to fill the second.
Curl is to manage Temasek's financial services investments and reinforce the SWF's businesses in the Americas. According to reports, his management scope accounts for 37% of Temasek's $134 billion portfolio as of March - a sizable role for the man who was once a top contender to take over the position of Bank of America's former CEO Ken Lewis. Meanwhile, Israel, who has been with the firm for five years after a decade-long tenure at French food group Danone, was promoted from his role as head of Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
The appointments, which both take affect September 1, follows the former Singapore Exchange CEO Hsieh Fu Hua's May appointment as President. Hua, who joined Temasek in February as special advisor to its incumbent CEO Ho Ching, manages the firm's talent development and succession planning.
In addition to their roles as presidents, Israel and Hsieh also hold the positions of executive directors at Temasek.
