David Johnson to head OMM in Hong Kong
Law firm O’Melveny & Myers (OMM) has promoted its senior capital markets partner, David Johnson, to head its Hong Kong office.
Johnson has worked with issuers, financial institutions, and investment funds on a variety of public and private equity and debt capital markets offerings, as well as PIPE deals for global firms including Avenue Capital and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has undertaken numerous restructuring for companies in the financial services, retail, technology, media, telecommunications, and healthcare sectors.
"Expanding our Hong Kong office capabilities and strengthening our capital markets practice are key components of our larger plans for growing O'Melveny's presence in Asia and we're fortunate to have Dave Johnson leading those efforts," said Bradley J. Butwin, chair of OMM.
A former global head of OMM's Transactions department, Johnson is transferring to Hong Kong from the firm's Century City office located in Los Angeles. During his 25 years of experience in the field, he has advised issuers and deal managers on US IPOs of China-headquartered businesses such as Shanda Interactive Entertainment, ATA, and Focus Media.
In the Hong Kong office, Johnson joins the likes of private equity partner James Ford, who transferred over from London last year and is a member of the private equity and fund formation team led by Lawrence Sussman in Beijing and Dean Collins in Singapore.
