Anil Ahuja departs 3i
Anil Ahuja, managing partner and head of Asia for 3i, has quit the private equity firm. According to a statement, Ahuja is leaving to pursue other opportunities, although he will still operate as a part-time consultant to 3i.
Samir Palod, a partner in 3i's infrastructure business, has been appointed as managing director for India with immediate effect. He will report to Cressida Hogg, London-based managing partner for infrastructure.
Ahuja joined 3i in 2005, having previously spent eight years at J.P. Morgan Partners Asia, overseeing investments in India. Prior to that, he worked at Citibank Mumbai.
His departure comes six months after 3i announced plans to ax more than 160 staff and close six offices, including those in Hong Kong and Shanghai, in a move to bring its capacity down to a more realistic level. Another six offices, including Mumbai, were expected to see significant staff reductions.
The massive job cutting program is expected to reduce 3i's annual operating costs by GBP45 million ($62 million) within two years.
