India-focused ASK Capital names Evan Gallagher as CEO
India’s ASK Group has appointed Evan Gallagher, formerly of IDFC Alternatives, as CEO of Singapore-based ASK Capital Management.
He will lead the international capital markets approach for ASK private equity, real estate and listed equities business as the firm seeks to raise $1 billion over the next three years. Gallagher's previous role was similar in that he was CEO of IDFC Capital and head of investment management group for IDFC Alternatives as a whole.
Sunil Rohokale, CEO and managing director of ASK, told Reuters that there are plans to raise $350 million for a real estate fund, an additional $400 million for a long-only equities fund that currently has a corpus of $300 million, and a new private equity fund of up to $200 million.
ASK reached a first close of $50 million on its debut offshore real estate fund - it already has two onshore vehicles - in early 2014 and expected to complete the fundraising by March of this year, but the process was paused. ASK contributed $5 million to the fund and was looking to large institutions, pension funds, endowments, fund-of-funds and family offices to put in the rest.
ASK currently has about $3 billion worth of assets. In addition to raising its own funds, the company has a private equity joint venture with Pravi Capital.
