DeAWM hires ex-Paul Capital executive for Asia secondaries
Jason Sambanju, formerly co-head of Asia at Paul Capital Partners, has joined Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (DeAWM) as head of Asia secondaries.
In his newly created role, Sambanju will take responsibility for sourcing and executing secondary private equity opportunities across the region. He performed similar duties at Paul Capital, joining the firm in 2007 and being promoted to managing director and Asia co-head in 2011.
Paul Capital's Hong Kong office closed earlier this year as the secondaries specialist began to wind down its global operations, following the reported breakdown of a sale to Hamilton Lane. Successes in Asia included backing the spin-out of Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Asia private equity team to form secondaries direct specialist NewQuest Capital Partners in 2011.
DeAWM provides customized investment solutions to retail, institutional and wealth management clients across all major asset classes. It had almost EUR1 trillion ($1.36 trillion) of invested assets as of December 2012.
