
General Atlantic appoints new India senior VP
General Atlantic (GA) has appointed Alok C. Misra as senior vice president of the firm’s Resources Group in Mumbai.
In the role Misra will provide financial expertise and strategic counsel to GA's investment teams and portfolio companies. Most recently, Misra was Group CFO with business process outsourcing provider WNS Group. Prior to that, he was the Group CFO of MphasiS BFL and served a number of accounting and finance roles at other firms, including I.T.C. Limited and PwC.
GA's Resources Group consists of several experienced industry executives who provide expertise to the firm's investment teams and portfolio companies in a number of areas including finance, technology, operations, marketing and human capital management.
"As the first member of the GA Resources Group in India, Alok brings extensive public company financial experience that will be invaluable in supporting our Mumbai office" said Cory Eaves, Managing Director and Head of GA Resource Group.
GA has expanded its investment team in India this year with several new hires at its Mumbai office. The new hires include Shantanu Rastogi, who will be a principal with the firm, and associates Vijay Venkat and Varun Talukdar.
This follows the appointment of Sandeep Naik as managing director and head of the India office in December 2012.
GA's most recent investments in India include Fourcee, a logistics company, IndusInd Bank, a leading bank and financial services provider, and Mu Sigma, a data analytics company. Other current and prior portfolio companies include Genpact, National Stock Exchange (NSE), InfoTech, IBS Software Services, Jubilant and Patni.
