Sam Robinson joins North-East Family Office from Aberdeen
Sam Robinson, previously head of regional private equity fund investment at Aberdeen Asset Management, has joined North-East Family Office as managing partner for Asia.
North-East was established in 2013 in Denmark by Winnie Liljeborg and Per Algot Enevoldsen, the founders of the jewelry brand Pandora. Having grown Pandora from a single store in Copenhagen into a global brand, the Enevoldsen family sold a majority stake to PE firm Axcel in 2008 and the business went public two years later.
Robinson's responsibilities include building up an Asia private equity portfolio - with an initial focus on funds - managing the family office operations within the region, and supporting North-East's private equity activity in other parts of the world.
Robinson began his private equity career with Schroder Ventures and, following a restructuring of the business, joined SVG Advisors where he became global head of private equity. He relocated to Asia from Europe in 2011 and stayed with the company when it was acquired by Aberdeen two years later.
Last year, Aberdeen bought FLAG Capital Management, the US-based firm that had in turn acquired Asia-focused fund-of-funds Squadron Capital in 2012.
