Spring Capital makes two executive hires
Greater China growth investor Spring Capital Asia has bolstered its operational team, hiring Guosen He as senior director and Xiaoning Liu as senior director and head of legal.
He joins from Shenzhen Capital Group, where he spent five years as an investment manager, credited with leading investments into 10 healthcare companies. In addition to his five years in private equity, He spent 14 years in medical research at institutions including the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Freiburg University in Germany. He specializes in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare services and material science, among other disciplines.
Liu, meanwhile, was a legal director of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers China for four years prior to joining Spring Capital, having previously spent five years in JAFCO Asia's legal department. At JAFCO, Liu was a colleague of Spring Capital's founder Vincent Chan, who was the head of JAFCO Asia at the time.
Spring Capital, launched by Chan in 2007, has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong. It manages a $250 million US-dollar fund, which debuted in August 2010, and a RMB200 million ($31.3 million) contractual joint venture fund. In April of this year, the firm teamed up with FountainVest Partners to purchase a 28.27% stake in China-based Enzo Jewelry for more than $41 million.
