StepStone adds two managing directors to Asia team
StepStone has appointed Mu-shin Kim and Andy Tsai as managing directors to its Asia team. While Kim will cover investments and business development in Korea and Japan, Tsai will focus on Taiwan and broader Asia. Both will be based in the firm’s Beijing office.
Kim joins StepStone from Asian Development Bank, where he was the head of private equity and responsible for managing fund portfolios across Asian emerging markets. He also worked at natural gas producer El Paso Corporation, where he managed M&A deals primarily in Korea and Japan.
Tsai was the head of alternative investments at Cathay Life Insurance Company before joining StepStone. He was responsible for managing a $2 billion global portfolio across private equity and hedge funds and evaluating direct investment and venture capital funds in Taiwan. He was also the head of proprietary trading at Cathay Securities Company.
"Kim and Tsai are experienced, talented and highly respected Asian local investors who are an ideal match for StepStone's strategy of building local teams and expertise in the markets in which we operate," said Monte Brem, CEO of StepStone.
StepStone operates global offices in New York, London, Beijing, and San Diego and has had a presence in China since 2007.
