Bain appoints ex-J.P. Morgan executive as senior advisor
Gaby Abdelnour has been appointed senior advisor to Bain Capital effective January 1. He retired as the Asia-Pacific chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan in June, a position he held for the last six of his 14 years at the firm.
Prior to becoming regional head, Abdelnour led the firm's efforts in corporate client coverage in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Before that, he was a banker with Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and Singapore and with Bankers Trust in New York, focusing on M&A, leveraged buyouts and private equity.
"Gaby is a great leader and a high calibre professional with deep experience across the region," said Walid Sarkis, a managing director at Bain. "We look forward to working with him both to broaden our relationships globally and to seek his insights and sound advice. We are fortunate to have him on our team."
Bain, which engages a small number of senior advisors globally to complement the work of its investment and portfolio professionals, plans on using Abdelnour's Asian and EMEA experience to help develop its presence across the region.
"I've been consistently impressed with Bain Capital's value-added investment approach, high standards of due diligence, and the fact that Bain Capital professionals in aggregate are the largest investor in every fund raised," said Abdelnour. "I look forward to working with the partners in the firm to add value by sourcing transactions, and enhancing relationships with clients and investors alike."
