Navis invests in Vietnam pharma firm
Navis Capital Partners has invested into OPV Pharmaceutical, a major Vietnamese branded generic pharmaceutical manufacturer.
The private equity firm has acquired shares in OPV Pharmaceutical Holdings, which in turn controls OPV Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (OPV). Most of the stake acquired constitutes new shares issued by the company.
"Vietnam is an extremely attractive pharmaceutical market with significant growth potential in the coming years," said Navis Partner David Ireland. "OPV and our new partners bring a unique mix of technical expertise, state of the art assets and both Vietnamese and international pharmaceutical experience to the investment."
OPV hopes the partnership with Navis will allow it to pursue several new initiatives that will meet the growing demand for quality healthcare in Vietnam.
The company, which was founded in the 1950s, develops, manufactures and distributes pharmaceuticals and nutritional products.
It represents Navis' second investment in Vietnam, following its 2008 cash boost for luxury furniture manufacturer Theodore Alexander.
