TPG adds UTC executive to Asia operations team
TPG Capital has appointed Zubin Irani, previously of United Technologies Corporation (UTC), as a managing director within its Asia Pacific operations group.
Irani, who is relocating from New Delhi to Singapore for his new role, will focus on building out the private equity firm's operations capability, and help implement performance improvement and talent management initiatives for portfolio companies.
He spent nine years at UTC, most recently serving as India country head and president of the building and industrial systems division. With over 118,000 employees and annual net sales of $29.8 billion, the division specializes in elevator, escalator, fire safety, security, building automation, heating and ventilation systems. Its brands include Otis, Carrier and Kidde.
Before joining UTC, Irani worked for McKinsey & Company.
"We are really excited to have Zubin on board. His extensive hands on operational expertise will further strengthen our existing in-house operations team. Zubin's track record in building strong teams and driving performance will be a huge asset to TPG and our portfolio companies across the region," said Ben Gray, managing partner and co-head of Asia at TPG, in a statement.
TPG is currently investing its sixth pan-Asian fund, which closed last year at $3.3 billion. The private equity firm recently reached a first close of $6.5 billion on its latest global fund. The vehicle was launched last October and has a target of $8 billion and a hard cap of $10 billion.
