Alvarez & Marsal hires Harvey Packham as director
Advisory firm Alvarez & Marsal has taken on Harvey Packham as a director with its global forensic and dispute services (GFD) business in Beijing.
Packham is experienced in forensic accounting and the assessment of quantum of damages, investigations and international arbitration.
"Harvey's appointment reflects our continued commitment to the growth of the GFD business in Asia and in mainland China in particular," said Neill Poole, managing director of A&M's GFD business. "Growing foreign direct investment into mainland China and even higher growth of outbound investment is generating an increasing amount of cross-border commercial disputes and investigations."
Poole added that the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the UK Bribery Act compliance, and general fraud are important issues for both Chinese and foreign companies operating in mainland China.
Packham moved to China in 2009, having worked as a principal at CRA Lee & Allen in London, where he specialized in forensic accounting and disputes advisory work.
He is A&M's latest hire following the appointment of James Dubow as managing director and co-head of Asia last month. Dubow will be responsible for businesses in Greater China and across Asia.
Founded in 1983, A&M has been operating in Asia since 2003 and has offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing as well as Mumbai.
