Credit Suisse's Achuthan to launch India-focused PE firm
A Credit Suisse Asset Management former Director at the bank's alternative investments unit, Hari Achuthan, has reportedly departed the bank in order to set up a private equity company with aspirations to be the largest India-focused firm in the market.
The firm, Achuthan & Co. LLC, founded with tech-focused entrepreneur Karl Bornefalk, aims to focus on emerging market investments, and will initially target Indian assets. It will be based in London and maintain offices in Mumbai and New York.
Achuthan, who has also worked at Lehman Brothers before spending nearly six and a half years at Credit Suisse, was reportedly pegged as one of the top emerging leaders in Credit Suisse's Asset Management division in 2009 and was acclaimed a "rising star in public pensions" by one prominent pensions platform.
