Newgate Communications launches in Hong Kong
Newgate Communications has opened its first Asian office in Hong Kong, which is headed by Richard Barton, formerly Asia managing partner at Kreab Gavin Anderson (KGA). This is part of a broader strategic expansion initiative that will also see the firm establish a presence in Beijing and Singapore.
Barton, who is joined at Newgate by Grace Zhang, also formerly of KGA, has been based in Asia since 2000, providing strategic and communications support to the likes of KKR, Permira, Baring Private Equity Asia, Unitas Capital, Quadrangale, TA Associates and The Longreach Group. In the last six years, he has advised on private equity fundraising efforts totaling $10 billion and deals worth a cumulative $14 billion.
Newgate, a subsidiary of London-headquartered Porta Communications, has offices in London, Edinburgh, Brussels and Frankfurt in addition to Hong Kong. Private equity-related services include fundraising and transactions communications, brand building for PE firms and portfolio companies, enhancing LP relations, and crisis management.
"As Western companies continue to operate, invest and raise capital in Asia, and Asian businesses rapidly develop their global expansion plans, Newgate is well placed to advise clients across multiple geographies on a broad array of complex communications issues," Barton said.
