KKR expands energy & infrastructure team into Asia
KKR has further bolstered its energy and infrastructure presence in Asia, appointing Tony Schultz as managing director in Sydney and relocating Ash Upadhyaya -a director with KKR's energy and infrastructure team in the US - to Singapore.
Upadhyaya has been with KKR since 2011 while Schultz most recently served as Sydney managing director with EIG, focusing on energy, metals and mining investments in Asia Pacific. Both will leverage their sector knowledge to identify energy and resources investments in the region, KKR said in a statement.
"KKR aims to create a unique offering in the energy, infrastructure and natural resources market, and part of that comes from combining our local geographic knowledge with industry expertise," said Joe Bae, Head of KKR Asia
KKR has been investing in energy and infrastructure sectors for nearly 30 years, according to release, with investment spanning energy, infrastructure and mining. Its current portfolio investments include sectors such as oilfield services, petroleum, shale gas, social infrastructure, renewable energy and utilities assets in markets such as France, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and North America.
"We are building our team in Asia Pacific to have the flexibility to work up and down a capital structure to provide solutions," said Justin Reizes, Head of KKR Australia. "Tony and Ash will be working on energy, resources and infrastructure in Australia and Asia and will be part of a global team looking at metals and mining opportunities around the world."
