DLA Piper promotes four to partner in Asia
DLA Piper has promoted four of the Greater China-based lawyers in its corporate practice group to partner level.
Anderson Lam, Phil Lam and Mike Suen in Hong Kong and Shanghai-based Kaichen Xu are four of 58 DLA executives worldwide to be promoted to partner level this year.
Xu joined the law firm as Of Counsel in 2010, having advised many private equity and venture capital clients active in China, such as Actis, The Carlyle Group and IDG Ventures. He has represented clients on more than 50 PE and VC deals ranging from early stage financings to growth stage and pre-IPO investments
"We are delighted to welcome so many accomplished lawyers to the position of partner," said Tony Angel, DLA's global co-chairman. "These promotions demonstrate our significant strengths across each region and within each practice area and are testament to the talent that resides within the firm."
Also in the Hong Kong corporate group, DLA has promoted Jennifer Chase, Jada Lee, Richard Lee, Fai Li and Frances Li to senior associate, as well as Athistha Chitranukroh in Bangkok, Michael Huang in Shanghai and Zi Ying Jack Qiao in Beijing.
Last month, DLA appointed Bob Charlton as managing director for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. He replaced Alastair Da Costa, who is returning to the UK after five years heading up the law firm's business in the region.
In addition to China and Bangkok, DLA's Asia Pacific footprint includes Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
