Morphlabs gets Series C capital from Japanese, Indonesian investors
Specialty cloud-computer software company Morphlabs has raised $5 million as part of a Series C round of funding from strategic partners BBT of Japan and a private, Indonesia-based investor group. It will use the funds to expand its operations in Southeast Asia and part of North America.
Los Angeles-based Morphlabs, which creates cloud-computing infrastructure systems, received its Series B round of financing in July 2010. That investment enabled the company to grow from 25 to 50 employees and additionally has expand throughout the US and Asia. Its expansion has largely been brokered through partnerships with companies such as Arista Networks, BroadBand Tower, CoreSite Realty and Nexenta Systems, which use its mCloud DCU solution.
"We're thrilled to use this round of funding to grow our team and to deliver highly available cloud environments for enterprises that might not otherwise be able to benefit from the cloud because of the challenges associated with existing public and private cloud deployment options," Winston Damarillo, CEO of Morphlabs, said in a statement.
Morphlabs was founded in 2007 by industry experts and has additional operations in the Philippines, Japan and Australia.
