Cadwalader poaches three lawyers from Jones Day
Cadwalader's Hong Kong office has poached three lawyers - Joseph Lee, Jeffrey Maddox and David Neuville – directly from rival Jones Day.
Lee, Maddox and Neuvill join Cadwalader's Asia capital markets practice, having all been partners in Jones Day's capital markets group, and served on a range of cross-border debt and equity deals.
With a focus on corporate finance and securities transactions, particularly IPOs of Hong Kong and Chinese companies, Lee has advised various businesses on M&A, joint ventures, and private equity transactions. He has established a local Hong Kong law firm, Joseph P.C. Lee & Associates, in order to partner with Cadwalader and allow the latter to address a wider range of international clients.
Neuvill, meanwhile, has worked on numerous M&A, private equity, and venture capital transactions, having been based in Hong Kong since 1994. "Cadwalader is a firm with a long standing history in the financial markets," he said. "Our team is perfectly situated to support Cadwalader's reach in Asia, and Cadwalader's affiliations are perfectly suited for our high quality transactions work."
Maddox has also been in Hong Kong for the past 18 years, and has represented issuers, underwriters, and investors on a wide range of offerings, including IPOs on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, and the stock exchanges of Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and London.
Earlier this week, another international law firm, DLA Piper, announced that it has promoted four of the Greater China-based lawyers in its corporate practice group to partner level. Anderson Lam, Phil Lam and Mike Suen in Hong Kong and Shanghai-based Kaichen Xu are four of 58 DLA executives worldwide to be promoted to partner level this year.
