Two in three Asia PE professionals expect salary hike in 2014 - survey
Two thirds of private equity investment professionals in Asia expect their base salary to increase in 2014 over the previous year.
This comes after a comparatively flat 2013, in which only one quarter of investment professionals received pay rises, according to a survey conducted by Heidrick & Struggles. Almost all of the rest saw no change on 2012 levels.
Asked about their expectations for 2013 bonuses - which when the survey was conducted had yet to be awarded - 62% of respondents said they didn't expect to see a change compared to 2012. Just over one third were looking for an increase.
Of those expecting a rise in base salary in 2014, the majority are at principal, director and senior vice president level. An increase of less than 10% is seen as most likely.
The same group accounts for most people angling for a 2013 bonus hike - of 20% or more.
The average total compensation for executives at managing director, partner, senior partner and senior managing director level was $688,000 in 2013. For principal, director and senior vice president it was $492,500, while the average total compensation for vice presidents, associate directors and senior associates was $357,000.
Associates and analysts were on $219,000 and $150,000, respectively, the survey found.
