Bedell Cristin to offer BVI legal services from Singapore
International law firm Bedell Cristin has opened an office in Singapore from which it will provide British Virgin Islands (BVI) legal services to clients throughout Asia. Stephen Adams, who joined Bedell from BVI law firm Barker Adams at the beginning of this year, will head up the Asia operation.
The Singapore office will offer services including mainstream corporate finance work, joint ventures, listings, banking, capital markets, IPOs and M&A transaction work. Adams has 15 years of experience in the corporate, banking and investment funds areas in the BVI, Hong Kong and Canada.
The BVI remains the jurisdiction of choice for many Asia-based investors looking to set up offshore holding companies, special purpose vehicles and other structures used in asset protection and tax planning.
"The opening of the office in Singapore is a logical move designed to augment our global reach and range of high quality legal services to our international client base, particularly those in the Asian region," said Richard Gerwat, managing partner at Bedell. "There is a significant global demand for BVI legal services from our clients and it is important we not only respond to that need, but also that we provide the level of experience and client service that our clients have come to expect."
Bedell is headquartered in Jersey and also maintains offices in Guernsey, London, BVI and Mauritius.
