3i’s Nikhil Gahrotra joins BanyanTree
Banyan Tree Finance has poached Nikhil Gahrotra from 3i Group, where he was working as associate director. He joins the mid-market PE firm as a director.
Gahrotra has more than nine years of experience in the financial services industry, of which the last seven years were spent focusing on private equity in India.
At 3i, one of Europe's largest private equity funds, he jointly led their growth capital business in India and represented the firm on the board of BVG India, the country's largest domestic facilities management services business, and OOH Media, its largest LCD-based outdoor advertising network.
Before his appointment at 3i, Gahrotra established the India office for Q Investments, a $4 billion US based multi-strategy fund. There he concentrated on private equity and structured investing across a range of sectors. Prior to this, he worked for Citigroup's investment banking team in India, where he advised on M&A and helped some of India's largest companies raise more than $2 billion in equity and equity-linked capital.
