Malaysia's VC-backed PurelyB buys Singapore yoga portal
Malaysian health and wellness company PurelyB has acquired Singaporean yoga lifestyle website Stretch City.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed. Stretch City is a yoga lifestyle website listing studios, shops, restaurants, events and promotions with target markets across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Sydney.
"An acquisition made perfect sense as a way to move forward, as we build up Asia's largest health and wellness community together and unite our resources," PurelyB co-founder Jesrina Arshad told Tech In Asia.
The move represents a rapid acceleration for the company, which closed a seed round with 500 Startups in December in a bid to build Asia's first health and wellness content-integrated marketplace. Malaysia's Brunsfield Ventures also participated in the round.
The Asia-Pacific region's health and wellness market has been valued in the range of $3.4 trillion. PurelyB says Asia-Pacific is experiencing the biggest growth in the sector globally and could mark retail sales of more $200 billion in 2015 alone.
