Stonebridge leads $3.5m round for Korean wearables maker
Stonebridge Capital has led a $3.5 million Series A round for Ybrain, a Korean start-up that makes wearables for Alzheimer's patients.
This brings the total capital raised by Ybrain to $4.2 million - the company previously raised a $643,000 seed round from undisclosed investors.
Founded in 2013, Ybrain is a brain signal-based wearable device company which is also building its own mobile health and wellness solutions platform. Its wearable devices are for patients suffering from Alzheimer's and mild cognitive impairment.
The startup claims that clinical trials show its wearable devices are 20% to 30% more effective than existing oral medication for Alzheimer's patients.
According to TechCrunch, the investment will be used for clinical trials and the manufacture of its wearable devices.
Stonebridge is a Seoul-based venture capital and private equity firm founded in 2008. Last month, Stonebridge Capital, KTBNetwork and SoftBank Ventures Korea invested KRW3.4 billion in ID Incu, a mobile survey applications developer in South Korea.
