AVCJ journalists win awards
Asian Venture Capital Journal was honored at the 2013 State Street Institutional Press Awards, Asia Pacific, winning two categories outright and receiving highly commended citations in two more.
Andrew Woodman, a staff writer with the publication, won the Award for Best Newcomer and was highly commended in the investment writing category. His submissions included features on corporate restructuring in Japan and on the role of operating partners in private equity firms.
Managing Editor Tim Burroughs won the Award for Best Editorial Comment, while Winnie Liu, another staff writer, was highly commended in the alternative investment writing category. Her submissions included features on the regulation of domestic private equity in China and on efforts to turn the Qianhai district into a fundraising hub.
The awards, now in their second year in Asia, are intended to recognize outstanding performance in institutional financial services reporting. There were nearly 70 submissions from titles across the region, including those from Hong Kong, mainland China and Australia.
Entries were judged by an independent panel of industry professionals led by Tom Leander, Asia editor-in-chief at Lloyd's List.
