
GSR Ventures hires Singapore's Ong as venture partner
Beijing-based venture capital firm GSR Ventures has hired Peng T. Ong, a Singaporean serial entrepreneur and tech investor, as a partner based in Beijing.
With GSR Ventures, Ong will primarily focus on innovative technology companies in the Internet, wireless, and software sectors. As an investor and entrepreneur in those segments, Ong founded and invested in several Internet and software companies, including dating site Match.com; Interwoven, a provider of content management software and services which went to IPO on NASDAQ in 2007; and Encentuate, which became the basis of IBM Singapore Software Lab. He currently sits as chairs a $200 million venture capital fund that promotes innovative early-stage ICT businesses in Singapore.
