Ex-CLSA Capital Partners CEO joins TRG as partner
The Rohatyn Group (TRG) has hired Christopher Seaver, formerly CEO of CLSA Capital Partners, as a partner based in its Hong Kong office.
He will serve on TRG's executive committee and take specific responsibility for the firm's regional initiatives in Asia, including new business development and management of existing and new strategic partnerships.
Seaver departed CLSA in 2014 after nearly six years with the firm and co-founded Aequus Asia with two executives from Avenue Capital and Dinova Capital. The plan was to raise a $200 million Asia healthcare fund. Before CLSA, he served briefly as managing director for China at Darby Overseas Investors and spent 15 years at J.P. Morgan in a variety of investment banking roles, latterly in Asia.
TRG is an emerging markets asset management firm with Asia offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Mumbai and New Delhi. In 2013, it acquired Citi Venture Capital International (CVCI) for an undisclosed sum. This followed the purchase of majority stakes in Singapore-based infrastructure investor CapAsia in 2012 and Hong Kong-headquartered real estate investor Arch Capital in 2011.
"The addition of Chris to our leadership team reflects TRG's continued enthusiasm for the dynamism of Asia's diverse economies and markets. The depth and breadth of his experience will undoubtedly add tremendous value to our existing activities in Asia and enhance our ability to take advantage of new opportunities across the region," Nicolas Rohatyn, CEO and CIO of TRG, said in a statement.
